The Ajanta Caves are a group of 31 rock-cut Buddhist cave temples located in Maharashtra, India. They are about 104 kilometers (65 miles) from the city of Aurangabad. The caves were built over a period of about 500 years, from the 2nd century BCE to the 6th century CE. They are famous for their exquisitely carved sculptures and paintings, which depict scenes from Buddhist mythology and history. The best time to visit the Ajanta Caves is during the spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November) seasons. The weather is pleasant during these times and there are fewer crowds. The entrance fee to the Ajanta Caves is INR 100 for Indians and INR 250 for foreigners. The opening hours are from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
